Let's take a look at the edited output I get when running yay -Ss brave:Īur/brave-dev-bin 1.43.52-1 (+11 0.01) Web browser that blocks ads and trackers by default (dev binary release).Īur/brave-nightly-bin 1.44.9-1 (+20 0.90) Web browser that blocks ads and trackers by default (nightly binary release).Īur/brave-git 1.25.33.g0126e4e-1 (+25 0.00) (Orphaned) A web browser that stops ads and trackers by default. You did good in running the -Ss flag first, but it might be a good idea to review its output more closely. It's a really cool feature, but things can (will) go wrong at some point, and having some knowledge will help you keep a well working system. Every package in the AUR is made from a volunteer who decided to put together a git package with a script that automates installing something. Yay is just a program that does the "heavy lifting" of installing an AUR git package. When you have time, it would be a good idea to check out the Arch wiki page about the AUR. Checking the logs and creating a new post with the logs might be helpful, as somebody with more experience can respond.Īs for your first question, this is going to be a long post, but it might help you. I'm not all that great at troubleshooting X issues, but I'd recommend checking out the Arch wiki on the topic. It's also possible that happened due to something else entirely. The error you got sounds to me like an issue with either X itself or an issue with a driver it relies on. For your second question - maybe? Depending upon what was installed, it might have borked your Xorg install.
